FAQs - Private Sessions

What’s the first step?

The process starts with a one-on-one assessment with one of our highly qualified Pilates instructors to understand your objectives, current health issues or injuries, and current or previous support received from allied health professions such as a physiotherapist or doctor. The session also involves completing some basic exercises so your instructor can determine your current mobility, strength and flexibility. The initial assessment will take one hour.

What happens next?

Our instructor will then design a customised pilates program incorporating a range of specific exercises designed to address the issues, challenges and objectives discussed during the assessment. Your personal Pilates instructor will then guide you through each exercise in the program, ensuring it is performed correctly to maximise the benefit to you. Each session will run for 50 minutes.

What equipment will I be using?

You will be using a range of Pilates equipment primarily focused on the reformer bed and trapeze but also including smaller items such as fitness balls, hand weights and other aids.

The reformer bed is a specialized piece of Pilates equipment that consists of a frame with a carriage that slides back and forth on wheels, providing adjustable resistance through springs. It's used to perform a wide range of Pilates exercises, offering a full-body workout that enhances strength, flexibility, and core stability.

A Pilates trapeze table, also known as a cadillac, is a large piece of Pilates equipment that resembles a bed with an overhead frame. It features a padded platform for lying down and a metal frame with various attachment points for springs, pulleys, and straps. These elements allow for a wide range of exercises targeting core stability, spine mobility, and upper body strength.

What should I wear?

Ideally gym gear or something you can comfortably exercise in. In PiIates, we do not wear runners as we want to maximise mobility and use of the feet muscles which are crucial to overall stability and strength. Please wear “sticky” socks which can be purchased at most sports stores. For the initial assessment, a normal pair of socks is fine.

How many sessions should I do?

That’s up to you but typically we start with a minimum weekly session to ensure you benefit from the program, more often if you are looking for faster results.

Do the exercises remain the same?

In Pilates, individual exercises are calibrated to your fitness level, constraints related to injuries or mobility, and your ability to take on more challenging activities. Pilates exercises can be varied to make the base exercise more challenging as you progress. Likewise, exercises can be simplified if you are struggling to perform a particular movement, ensuring you don’t exacerbate an injury whilst gradually building strength and flexibility where needed. Finally, additional exercises can be added as sessions progress to build on areas of strength or broaden the areas covered. The goal is to achieve consistent and measurable improvement in the areas you are targeting whether that be optimising sports performance, recovering from an injury, or improving overall conditioning.

What’s our cancellation and refunds policy?

No refunds are available once a package or a subscription has been purchased. Full payment will be levied for any booked classes or sessions at the time the booking is made.

Our Cancellation & Refunds Policy requires that you give us a minimum 12 hours notice of cancellation by cancelling or rescheduling your class or session on the booking system. That gives someone else the chance to fill your spot. If you cancel your booking with a minimum of 12-hours notice, the amount will be credited and available to use for other bookings. If you cancel within 12-hours of your class or session start time, or do not turn up, you will not be eligible for a refund.
